What are the criteria for chocolates to review?
We specialize in reviewing artisanal, gourmet chocolatiers who believe in doing things the right way – preferably by hand, using the best ingredients. Our goal is to help you discover something unexpected and amazing. No mass-marketing, no multi-national companies.
Does Bittersweet sell chocolate?
Nope. While we are thrilled that you want to try the chocolatey deliciousness for yourself, we are in the reviewing business and we leave the chocolate business to those who do it best. All of the items critiqued here can be purchased from the chocolatiers. There are links and contact information in every review.
How are the chocolates reveiwed?
Twice a month, a panel of specially-trained chocolate experts sits down for a tasting and critiquing session. Each chocolate is tasted for flavor, texture, mouthfeel and intensity. The results are complied and reviews are written. We bring you the good, the better and the best, usually with a pairing suggestion or two.
I make gorgeous handmade chocolates. How do I submit them for a Bittersweet review?
